Service Learning Project 2011 :DDD

Hi Guides!! :D This is for Sec 2s and 3s :))

Why is there a need for Service Learning?? :OO
It's for our Puan Noor Aishah Award! <3<3<3 In order to get GOLD GOLD GOLD :DDDD, Service Learning is part of the requirement too, so we'll have to do well for it! And it now depends on YOU! :D

Requirements:
1) Each team can only have a maximum of 4 guides (can also form groups of 2-3)
2) All team members must be from the same COY.
3) Each team must complete at least 30 hours of service learning
4) There must not be 2 teams doing the same fund raising/project for the same organisation/home.
5) The Service Learning project must have served welfare homes (SPCA, old folks home, etc.) or any child-care centres, kindergartens, overseas trip, or services rendered to primary school.

Remember the groups that I made your form during last activity?? Here are the groups that are REQUIRED/CONFIRMED MUST DO:

Coy 1:
Group 1: 2BN Pertina Seah, Fiona Ong, Chua Hui
Group 2: 2CR Kezia Neo, Xin Lei
Group 3: 2EP Joey Koh, Simin, Vionna
Group 4: 3CR Wong Jie Er, Vernessa Kwa
Group 5: 3HM YenTing, Liyuan

Coy 2:
Group 1: 2DL Choo Kayleen, Desiree Lim, Siow Jiawen
Group 2: 2HM Lim Jia Hui, Caroline Yap
Group 3: 2IT Caroline Zhang, Gwendolyn Yap
Group 4: 3LY Yee Jiayu, Siew RuJun, Khiu Jiaen
Group 5: 3RP ZhiYun, Jane, Vivian, Catherine

*BOLD NAMES means that you are the leader of the group :))

(However for coy 2 Group 1, 2 & 3, your are doing on animal-related projects. So I'll have to confirm the groupings again. :) )

So what do your need to do as a group??? :)

Each team to submit in a portfolio for HQ which must include the following items:
a) At least 4 Photos (the more the merrier ^^) of guiders in action during service learning (only guiders should be in the photo, no boys in the photo.)
b) Team's aim and objectives
c) A write up of the planning process (at least 150 words) (include no of hours spent for preparation and also execution of project)
d) Description of the activity (at least 250 words)
e) How it has benefited the beneficiaries/organisation
f) Each group member's reflection (at least 300 words each)

Since most of your have already completed your Service Learning, do start on this reflection soon! Remember to WRITE IT WELL :DDD I want GOOD QUALITY work! :D

After your have completed it, please give me a softcopy of your work and a hardcopy (in file) version as well. :))

Questions that you may ask! :))

1. 30hours??!! Oh no what if I did not complete 30hrs?? :OO
- Don't worry! I'll check with Ms Juni regarding the timing again and inform your :)) In the meantime, you can start on the rest of the reflection. :)

2. 4 photos??!! What if my class did not take any photos at all?? :OO
- Don't worry! I'll check with Ms Juni again :))

3. Team's aims and objectives?? What if I don't know any of them?? :OO
- If your teacher/classmates are the ones who have been planning for the Service Learning, do ask them about information regarding the project. If you have the Service Learning proposal that your classmates have come up with, do ask from them so that you will have a clear idea of what your class had done :DD

*On a side note, for every NYAA Gold awardee in the COY, the coy gets 14 points. Every Silver awardee contributes 10 points and bronze awardee contributes 8 points to the COY. So guides, do treat the NYAA award seriously if your want GOLD for your coy! :D
